Gibson first introduced TV Yellow nitro lacquer in 1954. The semi transparent lacquer reveals the woodgrain to a certain extent depending on the woodspecies, grainfiller and number of coats applied.
TV Yellow nitro was first used by Gibson on their Les Paul Junior guitars in 1954. In 1955 Gibson the then new Les Paul Specials were also finished in TV Yellow nitro.
